Chromatographic column for separating surfactant

A chromatographic separation column for characterizing the purity of a surfactant is disclosed. The column includes a separation medium having a particulate porous matrix retained within the column, the particulate porous matrix having a monofunctional silane, the monofunctional silane having a diisopropyl pendant chain group and a pendant cyano functional group. The porous matrix has a pore size of about # imgabs 0 # to about # imgabs 1 # and an average particle size of about 1.0 [mu] m to about 100 [mu] m.
