Techniques for heart rate detection

Methods, systems, and devices for heart rate detection are described. A method may include receiving physiological data associated with a user, wherein the physiological data may include motion data and temperature data collected over an entire time interval via a wearable device associated with the user. The method may include determining a conditional quality metric associated with a time interval based on the received motion data and temperature data. The conditional quality metric may indicate a relative quality of physiological data collected throughout the time interval for determining heart rate measurements. The method may include sampling, via the wearable device, photoplethysmogram (PPG) data of the user based on the conditional quality metric satisfying a threshold metric value and the timer satisfying a first threshold duration.
