Methods for managing pain

The present invention provides a method of treating or preventing pain in a subject in need thereof. The method comprises administering to the subject an expression vector comprising a nucleic acid sequence encoding a carbonic anhydrase (10) or carbonic anhydrase (11) such that the nucleic acid is expressed to produce the carbonic anhydrase (10) or carbonic anhydrase (11).
