The slag tailing component detection system comprises a laser range finder used for detecting the distance between a laser component analyzer and to-be-detected slag tailings; and the laser component analyzer is used for sending laser to the to-be-detected slag tailings when the distance between the laser component analyzer and the to-be-detected slag tailings is smaller than a first threshold value to obtain a detection spectrum, and detecting the copper component content in the slag tailings conveyed in the slag conveying device by performing spectral feature analysis on the detection spectrum.
