The method comprises the steps that the thrust bearing cooling system of the water-turbine generator set comprises N oil pumps, and when it is detected that the water-turbine generator set is started, M oil pumps with the minimum operation times are obtained from the N oil pumps; according to the starting sequence of the M oil pumps, the M oil pumps are started in sequence and controlled to operate alternately; according to the difference of the relationship between the oil temperature of a thrust oil groove of the water-turbine generator set and a first temperature threshold value or the difference of the relationship between the temperature of any two thrust pads of the thrust bearing and a third temperature threshold value and a fourth temperature threshold value, the oil temperature of the thrust oil groove of the water-turbine generator set is calculated.
