Zusammenfassung: | The present invention proposes a transmitter, such as indoor and outdoor gateways or base stations, that proactively creates a plurality of virtual anchor points associated with certain known reflectors by code to allow for easier localization of low capability receivers. By measuring propagation characteristics of three or more coded beams, such as, for example, timing of reception, low-capability receivers, even those receivers with only a single antenna, may be positioned, for example, by the transmitter or by the receivers themselves. If each beam includes, for example, a location of an anchor point, a location of a transmitter, and a transmit time, the receiver may locate itself. This has the advantage that the receiver does not have to send any information back to the transmitter.
