A vehicle control device for controlling a vehicle that travels using a motor as a power source is provided with a control unit for controlling the motor. When the torque of the electric motor decreases from a positive side region of the torque in a direction in which the torque of the electric motor accelerates the vehicle to a negative side region of the torque in a direction in which the torque of the electric motor decelerates the vehicle, the control unit controls the electric motor such that the torque rate in the negative side region of the torque is smaller than the torque rate in the positive side region of the torque.
