METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETECTION OF COVID VARIANTS

The present invention discloses methods and systems for the detection of variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that result in COVID-19. For example, the present invention discloses a method for identifying and/or tracking variants of SARS-CoV-2, comprising: (a) identifying a sample from a subject as being positive for an SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid and/or an antibody to SARS-CoV-2; (b) generating a SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid specific to the sample from the sample; (c) performing nucleic acid sequencing on the SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid specific to the sample; and (d) determining whether the nucleic acid sequence comprises the SARS-CoV-2 variant sequence or not.
