The image restoration method comprises the steps of obtaining a to-be-restored image and a corresponding mask image; determining a search area including the to-be-restored area according to the position information of the to-be-restored area, and respectively obtaining sub-area images of the to-be-restored image and the mask image; obtaining a down-sampling image of the sub-region image; establishing an image matrix for each down-sampling image of the to-be-restored image; searching another pixel point closest to the hole image block space of the first pixel point through propagation search, and assigning a value to the image matrix; after the updating of the image matrix is completed, gradually reducing the search area, and updating the image matrix through random search; and repairing the to-be-repaired image to obtain a repaired image. According to the embodiment of the invention, on the basis of guar
