The invention provides a capacity limit estimation method for target tracking, and the method comprises the steps: obtaining a target density upper limit of a detection positioning system for target tracking in a specified detection scene according to the detection parameters of the detection positioning system; and based on the target density upper limit and the area of the target region, estimating the capacity limit and tracking difficulty of the detection positioning system for performing the target tracking task in the target region.
