Resin is activated and modified by adopting a surfactant and triisobutylene to obtain a modified resin catalyst, and the modified resin catalyst is used for catalyzing triisobutylene and hydrogen sulfide to react to prepare tert-dodecyl mercaptan. The modified resin catalyst is excellent in activity and long in service life, the problem that an ideal effect can be achieved only at an extremely low temperature when tert-dodecyl mercaptan is prepared from triisobutylene and hydrogen sulfide is solved, meanwhile, the problem that an existing catalytic system is fast in inactivation is solved, and therefore the modified resin catalyst has obvious economic advantages and is suitable for industrial production.
