The method comprises the steps that a micro fault is picked up based on electric imaging logging, and fault occurrence is determined; respectively defining a ground stress coordinate system (ICS), a geographic coordinate system (GCS) and a fault weak plane coordinate system (WCS); sequentially determining a ground stress matrix under an ICS coordinate system, a conversion matrix from the ICS coordinate system to a GCS coordinate system, a conversion matrix from the GCS coordinate system to a WCS coordinate system and a ground stress matrix under the WCS coordinate system; and calculating normal stress and shear stress on the weak surface of the fault, wherein the normal stress and the shear stress are used for determining the magnitude relationship between the ground stress.
