Zusammenfassung: | The invention relates to the technical field of lithium batteries, and provides a ternary positive electrode material and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps: mixing a nickel-cobalt-manganese ternary precursor and a lithium source, and performing first sintering treatment to obtain a positive electrode material precursor; and mixing the positive electrode material precursor with urea, and carrying out second sintering treatment to obtain the ternary positive electrode material. According to the invention, a proper amount of urea is adopted to coat the ternary positive electrode material precursor, and sintering is carried out under the inert gas. In an inert atmosphere, urea is carbonized after being calcined, and a carbon coating layer is formed on the surface of the positive electrode material precursor sample.
