The invention relates to a system and method for controlling communication interfaces to avoid power distribution resonance conflicts. A resonance avoidance system includes a resonance avoidance controller configured to insert delays between sequential transactions spaced by inactivity cycles on a communication interface to avoid stimulating a power distribution network resonance. The resonance avoidance controller may be configured to insert the delay by delaying a second transaction driven onto the communication interface after a first transaction, wherein the delay is sufficient to avoid stimulating the power distribution network resonance. The delay may be inserted by delaying a driver to drive the second transaction by a sufficient delay. A conflict may be detected between a first command and a second command in a command queue, wherein the delay may be inserted by inserting an operation-free command between the commands in the command queue.
