Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to the field of catalytic hydrogenation, and discloses a method for preparing 1, 4-butylene glycol from 1, 4-butynediol, which comprises the following steps: in the presence of a catalytic composition, contacting 1, 4-butynediol with hydrogen for selective hydrogenation, wherein the catalytic composition comprises a carbon-coated nickel nano composite material and a catalytic additive; the carbon-coated nickel nano composite material comprises a nickel nano particle inner core and a graphitized carbon layer shell wrapping the surface of the nickel nano particle inner core, and the lattice structure of the nickel nano particle comprises a face-centered cubic lattice structure and/or a close-packed hexagonal lattice structure; the catalytic additive is dicyandiamide and/or thiophene. According to the method, a carbon-coated nickel nano composite material is adopted as a catalyst, dicyandiamide and/or thiophene are/is introduced as a catalytic additive, and high selectivity and safety of th
