The apparatus comprises a microlens array (MLA) (235, 335, 435, 505, 540, 560), the microlens array comprising microlenses (510, 545, 565) in a periodic arrangement. The apparatus also includes an array of periodically arranged first radiation emitting elements (225, 325, 425) disposed at a first distance (270, 370) from the MLA and configured to generate a structured light pattern in cooperation with the MLA. The apparatus comprises a plurality of second radiation emitting elements (255, 355, 455, 515, 550, 570) disposed at a second distance (275, 375) from the MLA and arranged to avoid matching with any periodicity of the periodically arranged microlenses, and configured to generate a flood illumination beam in cooperation with the MLA. The first distance is greater than the second distance.
