The invention relates to an aqueous ink, an ink set, an ink jet recording method, and an ink jet recording apparatus. Provided is an aqueous ink capable of recording an image that achieves both high wear resistance and high color rendering properties. The aqueous ink for inkjet includes a coloring material and resin particles. The resin for forming the resin particles includes a unit having an aromatic group, a unit having a cyano group, a unit derived from a (meth) acrylate having a branched alkyl group, and a unit represented by the following general formula (1).
