Vehicle network security

The present disclosure provides "Vehicle Network Security". A gateway device or the like located in a vehicle may receive packets from a device, such as an electronic control unit in the vehicle, via a port of a vehicle network. Upon determining that the device is defined on and not authenticated to the vehicle network, it may be determined whether the packet is an authentication packet. Upon determining that the packet is an authentication packet, authentication of the device may be attempted until authentication succeeds or exceeds a threshold number of attempts.
