Comprising the following steps: acquiring surveying and mapping point cloud data of a construction site building, and importing a building BIM model; registering the surveying and mapping point cloud data to a building BIM model coordinate system; converting the geometric outer contour of each component of the building BIM model into a model point cloud; for each component, a projection analysis method based on a characteristic direction is adopted, a projection plane is divided into a plurality of sub-regions, and finally, the area of each sub-region on the three projection planes in each component is obtained; and calculating the construction progress of the component according to the area ratio of the surveying and mapping data of each component to each sub-region on the three projection planes of the model
