The method comprises the following steps: S1, obtaining lightning data through a lightning positioning system; s2, performing quality control on the obtained lightning data; s3, establishing a linear model and a power model of the annual average cloud-to-ground lightning density and the number of days of manual observation of thunderstorm; s4, analyzing the consistency of lightning positioning data and the number of days of manual observation of thunderstorm; and S5, verifying the reliability of the lightning positioning data replacing manual observation of the number of thunderstorm days. According to the method, a linear model and a power model of the annual average cloud-to-ground lightning density and the number of manually observed thunderstorm days are established after the quality control of the lightning positioning data, the consistency analysis of the lightning positioning data and the number of thunderstorm days
