The steel for the high-conductivity cathode bar comprises the following chemical components in percentage by weight: C = 0.10-0.16; si is equal to 0.15 to 0.30; mn is equal to 0.25 to 0.40; p < = 0.030; s is less than or equal to 0.030; ti is equal to 0.05 to 0.10; al is equal to 0.40 to 0.80; and the balance of Fe and inevitable impurity elements. The tensile strength of a rolled product produced from the steel is 270-380 MPa, the yield strength is 175 MPa or above, the area reduction rate is 45% or above, the thermal expansion coefficient is 12 * 10 /DEG C or below, the conductivity is 15 m/omega.mm < 2 > or above, a metallographic structure is ferrite and a small amount of pearlite, and the steel has the advantages of being low in production cost, low in thermal expansion coefficient and good in conductivity.
