The method is simple in operation steps, solves the problems of excessive reaction tail gas and high cost in the prior art, and comprises the following steps: step 1, collecting the methyl cyclopentenolone wastewater, feeding the methyl cyclopentenolone wastewater into a decoloration kettle, adding activated carbon, stirring for decoloration, and centrifuging to remove the activated carbon to obtain the decolorized methyl cyclopentenolone wastewater; and 2, transferring the decolorized methyl cyclopentenolone wastewater obtained in the step 1 into a salifying kettle, concentrating to obtain a concentrated ammonium salt solution, cooling and crystallizing to obtain dimethylamine hydrochloride crystals, adding equal amount of formaldehyde into the recovered dimethylamine hydrochloride, and pumping into an amination kettl
