The present application relates to a system and method for improving the condition of the eye, and to a system and method for treating or reducing the risk of suffering from a disease such as glaucoma. The present application provides a system and method for improving plasticity, improving circulation and fluid flow, or promoting tissue cell metabolism by hot compress and/or irradiation at a single wavelength or multiple wavelengths (e.g., between 780 nm and 950 nm or between 600 nm and 700 nm) and/or applying static and/or dynamic pressure to the eye.
