Electronic device with distributed computing capability

The invention relates to an electronic device with distributed computing capability. A master device is capable of running a software application that requires a compute task. The primary device may receive statistics from a set of secondary devices over a wireless communication link. The statistical data may include parameters associated with computing and communication capabilities of the secondary device. The primary device may predict an expected performance gain when distributing the compute task to the secondary device relative to executing the compute task locally based on the statistical data. If the expected performance gain is sufficiently high, the primary device can distribute a share of the computing task to the secondary device over the wireless communication link. If the expected performance gain is sufficiently low, the master device can perform the compute task locally.
