The invention provides a preparation method of a lithium supplement additive, and belongs to the technical field of lithium battery additives. The method comprises the following steps: 1) mixing a lithium source, an M source, a thickening agent and water to obtain a turbid liquid; the M source is at least one of oxide, hydroxide, sulfate, chlorate and nitrate of iron, nickel, cobalt, aluminum or manganese; 2) drying the turbid liquid to obtain precursor powder; and 3) calcining the precursor powder to obtain the lithium supplement additive.
