The organic photodetector has a structure in which a substrate, a cathode, an active layer, and an anode are arranged in this order, and is characterized in that the active layer contains a polymer compound having a benzobithiazole structural unit represented by formula (1). [In formula (1), T1 and T2 each independently represent: a thiophene ring which may be substituted with an alkoxy group, an alkylthio group, a hydrocarbon group, or a silicone group; a thiazole ring which may be substituted by a hydrocarbyl group or a silicone group; or a phenyl group which may be substituted by a hydrocarbon group, an alkoxy group, an alkylthio group, an organosilicon group, a halogen atom or a trifluoromethyl group.
