The method comprises the following steps: monitoring whether each node in the distributed file system has a fault or not by adopting a cluster database ctdb service so as to obtain an ip address of the fault node after monitoring the node fault; determining a metadata service mds identifier corresponding to the fault node according to the ip address of the fault node; updating the mds state corresponding to the mds identifier in the metadata service state information corresponding to each node as a fault, and determining a standby mds corresponding to the fault node; and controlling the standby mds to perform corresponding switching operation so as to adopt the standby mds to provide metadata service for the fault node.
