Various embodiments of the invention relate to an electronic device and a method for transmitting video data and audio data. The electronic device comprises a receiving unit, a signal processing unit, a sending unit and an audio timing unit. The receiving unit receives audio data and first video data. The signal processing unit generates second video data and a pixel clock signal for playing the second video data according to the first video data. And the sending unit outputs the second video data, the audio data, the pixel clock signal and the period timestamp to the receiving end. The audio timing unit comprises a reference signal generator and a controller. The reference signal generator generates an internal reference signal.
