Node authentication in distributed network

The invention relates to node authentication in a distributed network. Examples for identification and authentication of hardware are disclosed. Techniques may include receiving a node identifier during an initial phase of a node. The node identifier may include an initial unique identifier of the node. The node may receive a latest change identifier during a phase change of the node, where the phase change may cause a hierarchy change of the node. The most recent change identifier is configured to incorporate a most recent unique identifier corresponding to a most recent system and one or more unique identifiers corresponding to one or more prior systems of the node.
