An image forming apparatus includes: a mounting table on which an object is mounted; a transfer unit that transfers an image to the object; and a transport unit that transports the mounting table along a transport path, the transport start position of the transport path being set on one side of the transfer unit, the transport end position being set on the same side as the transport start position with respect to the transfer unit, the transport path extending beyond the transfer unit, and the transport end position being set on the same side as the transport start position with respect to the transfer unit.
