The invention provides a lightning stroke positioning system and method.The lightning stroke positioning system comprises two sets of lightning stroke detection equipment arranged at the two ends of a power transmission line and used for collecting surge waveforms generated by lightning stroke points when a lightning stroke event occurs and the time when the surge waveforms reach the respective lightning stroke detection equipment; the lightning sensor is arranged in the lightning stroke detection equipment and is used for collecting the distance and intensity of lightning relative to the lightning sensor when a lightning stroke event occurs; and the cloud server receives the data which are uploaded by each lightning stroke detection device and are collected in the current lightning stroke event, and calculates and judges the lightning stroke position according to the received data.
