The present disclosure relates to a device and a method for obtaining a quantitative sample mixture, the device comprising a fluid cartridge comprising: a first chamber configured to receive a sample and a first reagent to form a sample mixture (1); a metering chamber configured to meter a first portion of the sample mixture (1), the metering chamber being connected to the first chamber, the metering chamber having a hydrophilic surface; and a drive mechanism configured for driving the sample mixture (1) to contact the hydrophilic surface of the metering chamber.
