An absorbent article includes an absorbent insert including a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. The backsheet includes a nonwoven bonded to a film and has a backsheet film to nonwoven peel strength measured in units of N/cm in the bonded region. The absorbent article also includes an outer cover and a fastening system capable of engaging the absorbent insert to the outer cover.
