The invention relates to an insulator cleaning device for live working and a working method thereof.The device comprises an insulator string arranged on a live line, and the side portion of the first end and the side portion of the second end of the insulator string are connected to the lower end of a first support and the lower end of a second support; a rail parallel to the axis of the insulator string is connected between the upper ends of the first support and the second support, a sliding seat is connected to the rail in a sliding mode, a water tank, a water sprayer and a water supply pipeline connected between the water tank and the water sprayer are connected to the sliding seat, the water sprayer faces the insulator string, and a high-pressure water pump is connected to the water supply pipeline in series. The sliding seat is connected with a power battery for supplying power to the high-pressure water pump, and the first support, the second support and the track are all made of insulating materials.
