Image capturing method and device

According to one aspect, there is provided a method for minimizing motion-induced errors in an ambient light correction (ALC) image. The method comprises: capturing a plurality of primary images of the object within a time window with time-varying controlled illumination of the object; ambient light correction is performed on at least a portion of the plurality of primary images to generate a plurality of ambient light corrected images, each ALC image being generated based on demodulating a subset of the plurality of primary images having different controlled illumination, calculating error values for pairs of ALC images, each pair of ALC images comprising a first ALC image and a second ALC image, the error values of each pair of ALC images are compared, and an image having a minimized error is selected from the ALC image pair having the lowest error value within the time window.
