Poly (vinyl butyral) compositions for use with solar additives

Certain poly (vinyl acetal) compositions useful in safety glass structures are provided. The compositions of the invention can be extruded into sheets and used as interlayers between glass panels. In particular, the composition comprises one or more solar additives and a divalent magnesium ion and at least 2 carboxylate groups wherein the corresponding carboxylic acids of the carboxylate groups each have a pKa of less than about 4.80.
