Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a method (M) for braking a vehicle, comprising: detecting (M1) a braking desired signal representative of a target deceleration of the vehicle; generating (M21) a hydraulic brake pressure in a wheel brake cylinder (1) on the basis of the detected brake desired signal by means of a first pressure generating device (10), which is hydraulically connected to the wheel brake cylinder (1); detecting (M3) a fault state of the first pressure generating device (10); determining (M4) an alternative brake desired signal if a fault state of the first pressure generating device (10) is detected, the alternative brake desired signal being determined on the basis of a known target deceleration at a predetermined time before the detection of the fault state; and generating (M5) an alternative brake pressure in the wheel brake cylinder (1) on the basis of the ascertained alternative brake desired signal by means of a brake pressure control device (120) having a second pressure generating device (20) h
