The invention relates to an energy-saving method and system for an elevator signal coverage system, and the method comprises the following steps: carrying out wireless communication between a car unit and a host unit through a working frequency band, thereby achieving the signal coverage of an elevator car; monitoring the current of a driving motor of an elevator corresponding to the car unit through the host unit; if the host unit monitors that the current of the driving motor does not change and exceeds the preset time, a stop notice is sent to a lift car unit corresponding to the elevator, and the stop notice is used for notifying the lift car unit to turn off a power amplifier of the lift car unit; and the lift car unit performs wireless communication subsequently by controlling the frequency. By monitoring that the current of the power line of the elevator driving motor does not change and reaches the preset duration, energy-saving operation is carried out on the power amplifier of the host unit and the
