The invention provides a diesel oil hydrogenation catalyst, a preparation method thereof and a method for removing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon by diesel oil hydrogenation, and the diesel oil hydrogenation catalyst is prepared by the following steps: impregnating an alumina carrier in a metal impregnation liquid containing a tungsten source, a nickel source and a water-soluble zinc salt in an isovolumetric manner, and then drying and roasting; wherein the content of WO3 in the catalyst is 10 to 30 weight percent, the content of NiO in the catalyst is 2 to 10 weight percent, and the content of ZnO in the catalyst is 2 to 10 weight percent. Under the conditions that the temperature is 300-380 DEG C, the pressure is 4-10 MPa, the volume space velocity is 0.5-3.0 h and the volume ratio of hydrogen to oil is 300-800, the diesel oil hydrogenation catalyst is adopted for hydrogenation catalytic treatment of diesel oil, and the removal rate of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon in the diesel oil is 25-100 wt%.
