According to the preparation method of the rutile type TiNbO4 negative electrode material, a single raw material, namely an inorganic two-dimensional layered double transition metal carbide TiNbC MXene precursor, is adopted as a raw material, the target material TiNbO4 can be prepared through one-step oxidation, and the preparation method has the advantages that equipment is simple (a tubular furnace or a muffle furnace and the like can be flexibly selected), the operation process is simple and convenient, the cost is low, and the like. No organic solvent needs to be added, and the method is safe and environment-friendly; the obtained product has a layered stacking structure, is high in purity and small in particle size, and has great application potential when being used as a negative electrode of a lithium ion battery and a sodium ion battery.
