Integrated automated analyzer and method for analyzing whole blood and plasma from single sample tube

The presently claimed and described technology provides an integrated automated instrument (100, 100A, 100B, 100C) and method (800) for automatically processing a whole blood sample (50) in a single sample tube (80). These include: a sample in a mixing tube; analysing a portion (50P) of the mixed sample (50M); centrifuging the sample in the tube, thereby separating out plasma (60); and analyzing a portion of the plasma (60P). The pre-treatment module (200) can mix, centrifuge, transport, and store samples.
