Disclosed is a method comprising: obtaining, using at least one processor, a user destination; obtaining, using the at least one processor, preference data indicative of user route preferences; determining, using at least one processor, a set of routes toward the set of destinations based on the user destinations and the preference data, where at least one route in the set of routes is associated with one or more operational metrics; ranking, using the at least one processor, routes in the set of routes based on the preference data; and controlling, using at least one processor, navigation of the autonomous vehicle based on at least one of the ranked routes.
