The beautifying ointment Guilinggao is prepared with tortoise plastron, Chinese angelica, Radix Paeoniae Rubra, Tree peony bark, Vegetable Sponge and ither Chinese medicinal materials. Of its components,s ome can promote blood circulation, disperse blood clots and drain meridian, some can clear away liver fire and cool blood, some can invigorate spleen and nourish Qi and some can beautify, whitendelicate skin. Pharmocological study shows that Chinese angelica can restrain the activity of tyrosinase and prevent tyrosine hydrogenation to form melanin so as to delicate skin and cure chloasma.
