Vehicle door motion controller with accelerometer compensation

The invention provides a vehicle door motion controller for accelerometer compensation. In particular, systems and accelerometer calibration methods for opening or closing a closure member of a vehicle are provided. The system includes an actuator assembly having an electric motor operably coupled to the extendable member for opening or closing the closure member. The system also includes an accelerometer configured to sense movement of the closure member and output an accelerometer signal. The actuator controller is coupled to the electric motor and the accelerometer and is configured to determine an adjusted accelerometer signal from the accelerometer signal adjusted using one of a plurality of predetermined compensation factors temporarily determined by an accelerometer calibration process prior to installing the accelerometer in the vehicle. The actuation controller then controls opening or closing of the closure member using the electric motor based on movement of the closure member represented by the ad
