The optical glass has a mass ratio of Al2O3/(SiO2 + B2O3) of 0.045 to 0.200, a mass ratio of ZrO2/Al2O3 of more than 0 and less than 4.000, a content of a Y2O3 component of 5.0 to 40.0 mass%, a content of a BaO component of 10.0 mass% or less, and a refractive index (nd) of 1.72000 to 1.78000. 本发明稳定地提供一种折射率(nd)在1.72000～1.78000的范围内，且玻璃的硬度高，并且耐酸性优良的玻璃。该光学玻璃，质量比Al2O3/(SiO2+B2O3)为0.045～0.200，质量比ZrO2/Al2O3大于0且小于4.000，以质量％计，Y2O3成分的含量为5.0～40.0％，BaO成分的含量为10.0％以下，折射率(nd)为1.72000～1.78000。
