Zusammenfassung:A metasurface is used to provide optical sensing of a biological target, the metasurface having a guided mode resonance with an electric field distribution extending from the metasurface. Surface functionalization of such metasurfaces can be used to provide sensing for biological targets such as nucleic acids, proteins, small molecules, extracellular vesicles, and whole cells.
