Sewing equipment

A sewing apparatus for applying a seam to a fabric sheet is provided. An apparatus housing includes a platform for supporting a fabric sheet and contains a gripping member that is moved to grip and release a thread segment fed through the housing by a needle holder. A needle holder is positioned to hold a needle having a needle hole through which a thread segment passes and movable between a retracted position and an advanced position in which the needle holder drives the needle through the fabric sheet to bring the thread segment to a position grasped by the grasping member.
