Male plug optical connector with conversion adapter for mating with different connectors

A male plug fiber optic connector having a transition adapter for mating with a different connector and a cable assembly using the connector are disclosed. The fiber optic connector includes a ferrule, a connector housing, and a nose bridge having a pocket disposed at a forward portion. The pocket of the nose bridge is configured to allow optical mating with different connectors using the conversion adapter. In one embodiment, the nose bridge of the connector is disposed in front of a keyed portion disposed on the nose bridge.
