Male plug optical connector configured for mating with different connectors

A male plug fiber optic connector configured for mating with a different connector and a cable assembly using the connector are disclosed. The fiber optic connector includes a ferrule, a connector housing, and a nose bridge having a pocket disposed at a forward portion. The pocket of the nose bridge is configured to allow optical mating with different connectors. In one embodiment, the pocket on the nose bridge of the connector is disposed on a forward portion of the nose bridge.
