The method comprises the following steps: constructing an RCNN detection model and a YOLOv4 detection model; acquiring inspection images and inspection route information of the glass insulator on the power transmission line, and detecting the inspection images by adopting a YOLOv4 detection model to obtain a detection identification result; and if the detection and identification result is that the glass insulator has the lightning flashover defect, detecting the inspection image by adopting an RCNN detection model according to the inspection route information to obtain the position and the type of the lightning flashover defect.
